The EasyComp Connector for Google Sheets is an official Google Sheets add-on that lets you sync compensation data from EasyComp directly into your spreadsheets. Whether you need to pull earnings, payouts, attainment data, or participant details, the extension gives your team a fast, familiar way to work with compensation data without leaving Google Sheets.

This guide covers how the extension works, how to install it, and how to get help if you need it.

What the EasyComp Connector Does

The EasyComp Connector bridges your EasyComp platform and Google Sheets. It allows authorized users to:

  • Sign in securely using their existing Google account via single sign-on (SSO)
  • Browse available data exports configured by their EasyComp administrator
  • Select and download specific datasets such as earnings, payouts, attainment, participant attributes, and participant plan details
  • Sync data into organized sheet tabs, with each dataset appearing on its own worksheet
  • Refresh data on demand to pull the latest figures from EasyComp at any time
  • Preserve custom columns and formulas added alongside the synced data, so your own calculations are not overwritten on refresh

The extension is designed for compensation administrators, RevOps teams, finance teams, and sales leaders who want to analyze or report on compensation data inside the tools they already use every day.

How It Works

Authentication

The extension uses Google Single Sign-On (SSO) for authentication. When you click “Sign in with Google,” the extension securely sends your Google identity to the EasyComp server, which verifies that your Google account is linked to an active EasyComp user. No separate password is required.

Your session remains active until you explicitly sign out or your session expires. The extension stores only an authentication token locally — your Google password is never stored or transmitted by the add-on.

Selecting Exports

Once signed in, the sidebar displays a list of available exports configured by your EasyComp administrator. Each export is labeled by name and type (e.g., earning, payout, attainment), making it easy to identify the data you need.

You can:

  • Select individual exports by checking the ones you want
  • Select all or deselect all with one click
  • Download selected exports to pull only the data you need

Data Sync and Sheet Management

When you download data, the extension:

  1. Creates a new sheet tab for each dataset (or updates the existing tab if it already exists)
  2. Writes column headers in the first row and populates data starting from row two
  3. Auto-resizes columns for readability

On subsequent refreshes:

  • Existing API columns are updated in place with the latest data
  • User-added columns (any columns you added manually) are preserved
  • Formulas in user-added columns are automatically extended or trimmed to match the new row count
  • Extra rows from a previous sync are cleared if the new dataset is smaller

This means you can build your own calculated columns, charts, and pivot tables alongside the synced data, and they will survive data refreshes.

Quick Refresh from the Menu

In addition to the sidebar, you can refresh your data at any time using the Extensions > EasyComp > Refresh Data menu item. This re-downloads the same exports you last selected in the sidebar, without needing to open it again.

How to Install the EasyComp Connector

Prerequisites

Before installing, make sure:

  • You have a Google Workspace or personal Google account
  • Your Google account email is linked to an EasyComp user account by your organization’s EasyComp administrator
  • You are using Google Sheets in a web browser (the extension does not work in the Google Sheets mobile app)

Installation Steps

  1. Open any Google Sheets spreadsheet
  2. Go to Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons
  3. In the Google Workspace Marketplace, search for “EasyComp Connector”
  4. Click on the EasyComp Connector listing
  5. Click Install and follow the prompts to grant the required permissions
  6. Once installed, go to Extensions > EasyComp > Open Sidebar to get started

Permissions

During installation, the extension will request the following permissions:

  • View and manage the spreadsheet this add-on is installed in — required to write compensation data into your sheet tabs
  • Connect to an external service — required to communicate with the EasyComp server to authenticate and retrieve your data
  • View your email address — required to identify your Google account for single sign-on

The extension only accesses the spreadsheet it is installed in and does not access any other files in your Google Drive.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Google account is not recognized. What should I do? Your Google account email must be linked to an EasyComp user by your organization’s administrator. Contact your EasyComp admin to verify your account is set up.

I don’t see any exports after signing in. Exports must be configured by your EasyComp administrator. If the export list is empty, ask your admin to set up data exports in the EasyComp platform.

Will refreshing data overwrite my formulas? No. The extension preserves any columns you add to the right of the synced data. Formulas in those columns are automatically adjusted to match the current row count.

Can I use this on multiple spreadsheets? Yes. You can open the sidebar and sign in on any Google Sheets spreadsheet where the extension is installed. Each spreadsheet maintains its own data independently.

Does the extension work offline? No. The extension requires an internet connection to authenticate with EasyComp and retrieve data.
